Apple Announces iPhone 14 to Debut on September 7

Apple has announced the release date of the new iPhone. The next iPhone 14, which is believed to have an always-on display, will be announced on September 7 at 10 a.m. PT. Rumors say that the 2018 iPhone range may exclude the Mini in favor of a new Max model, joining the predicted iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, and will perhaps cost $100 more than last year’s. Apple may also have plans to remove the notch on the iPhone 14 in favor of a hole-and-pill-shaped front camera, at least on Pro variants.

In addition to the iPhone 14, Apple may use the event to debut the Apple Watch Series 8, which will appear identical to last year’s model but will have extra health functions such as a fever sensor and increased durability.

The tech titan has invited the press to the event at its Apple Park headquarters in California, but there will also be a webcast on Apple.com and other streaming platforms. Apple didn’t disclose anything about its upcoming iPhone event in its invitation, as is customary. The invitation depicts an Apple logo ostensibly set against a night sky, implying future camera upgrades or last year’s anticipated satellite emergency calling. The image appears to be from the James Webb Space Telescope, whose magnificent images have already begun to change how we perceive the cosmos since their initial publication earlier this summer. Apple incorporated the teaser phrase “Far out” in its statement.

The new features on the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch 8 may help Apple separate from Samsung and other smartphone makers this year when competition is likely to be fierce. They are not alone. People have been reducing their purchases of technology, resulting in surprise low sales forecasts from chipmaker Intel, as well as unexpected ad business shortages for Google parent Alphabet and Facebook parent Meta.

Samsung, for its part, made Apple’s work simpler by releasing its flagship Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 at their regular pricing of $1,800 and $1,000, respectively. It also increased the pricing of the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro by $30 each.

As a result, Apple does not appear concerned. Over the last few years, Apple has recorded its highest sales and earnings over the Christmas shopping season, owing primarily to the popularity of the 2021 iPhone 13 and 2020 iPhone 12. Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that users continue to choose iPhones because of their sophisticated cameras, extended battery life, and well-regarded software. However, he also stated that 5G, the super-fast cellular technology introduced by Apple two years ago, is expected to drive even more consumers to upgrade.

“5G has been an accelerant,” he remarked on a conference call with investors last month. He said that while the technology is expanding in certain countries, such as China, the EU, and the US, it has yet to catch on in other parts of the world. As 5G grows, he says, “I think there’s cause to be positive.”

While the iPhone is expected to be the main attraction at Apple’s presentation this year and will likely be the center of most people’s attention, the firm is also expected to show off other gadgets.
