Zainab’s Father Sues TV Channel for Telefilm
After it had been announced that a local tv channel has a telefilm in the works based on what happened to Zainab, with the script written by Baaghi writer Umera Ahmed, people had mixed thoughts about it. Some thought it was nice to bring the situation to light and spread awareness while others thought that the subject matter was only being used for ratings and gain viewers.
Zainab’s father Ameen Ansari has decided to take the channel to court over the issue as they had not been asked for permission to adapt Zainab’s story in a telefilm by the tv channel. According to Mr. Ansari, he wants to sue the channel for using his daughter’s name for their own selfish purposes that serve no justice to Zainab whatsoever.
Legal notice sent to A plus Channel for making the Film on Zainab. 1)The matter is still subjudice 2)The case is of rape involving a child 3)Violation of basic fundamental rights. There has to be limit on the means of making money from drama and films pic.twitter.com/6NmO8bBC3C

Some time ago, activist Khadeeja Siddiqi raised the issue about consent and whether the channel has asked for it from the family:
Sensationalism. To top it up there was no consent taken from Zainabs parents before making this film. Horrendous Ways to capitalize on a serious sensitive issue that is still fresh in everyone’s consciousness. Cant imagine the anguish her parents have to relive. #Zainab pic.twitter.com/Zm85EZyXRd

It remains to be seen how the tv channel will respond and if the telefilm will even see the light of the day.Disclaimer:We do not allow users to post content which is copyright and We take strict actions against the users who post infringement content on our website.Although we do not host any content, users post embed videos from youtube, facebook, Dailymotion and Vimeo and are moderated before posting but we still take strict action against the copyright videos posted. If you are an official representative of any company whose videos are posted illegally on our website or you think some video infringe the copyright then you can simply send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
