The Best Looks from the MET Gala 2018

Just as tradition, the MET Gala 2018 took place in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night. The most anticipated fashion event of the western world, and the most extravagant red carpet of the year had everyone anxious to see what the celebrities attending would be wearing. The theme of the night was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
Curator Andrew Bolton along with Anna Wintour, co-chair of the gala and trustee of the Museum, compiled pieces from the Vatican itself including Pope Benedict XV’s white silk cape embroidered with gold thread, pointed bishop’s hat of Pope Leo XIII, as well as art pieces belonging to Coco Chanel, Cristóbal Balenciaga, John Galliano, and Donatella Versace who was a co-sponsor of the evening.
According to Anna Wintour, “Fashion reflects the world around us and nobody understands that more clearly than Andrew. When I go to these fashion exhibitions. I’m always so amazed to see people from all sides of the globe and all walks of life really studying the exhibitions, understanding that fashion does not operate in a vacuum.”
Now let’s take a look at some of the best looks of the night that kept close to the theme and stole our breaths away:
