The people of USA were rendered speechless when yet another school shooting took place on Friday at Santa Fe High School in Texas. The shooter was Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a 17-year-old junior, and has been arrested on murder charges. Among the ten victims was Sabika Sheikh who was studying in US through an exchange program called YES. She had been slated to return home in a few weeks in time for Eid-ul-Fitr.

Her body was received early on Wednesday by her family members and US consulate officials, sent home through a private airline from Houston, Texas to Karachi. Her funeral prayers were offered on Wednesday at 9:00 am after which she was laid to rest in the Azeempura graveyard in Shah Faisal Colony. Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah were also in attendance during the prayers.

Another funeral service took place on Sunday in a Muslim community in Houston where around 1000 people attended the service to pay respects to the slain teen and victim of terrorism. We offer our condolences to her family and friends as well as wish them the ability to get through such a horrible tragedy.
