Pakistani Actors gave a shut up call to Swara Bhasker for her ignorant remarks about Pakistan
Swara Bhasker, one of the leads in Veere di Wedding called Pakistan ‘a failing state’ in her recent interview with CNN News18. When Rajeev Masand questioned about the ban of their film in Pakistan for vulgarity she said, “
“For some reason I have to keep answering for that. I don’t know why people think I’m a spokesperson for the Pakistani government. What do you expect from a state that’s run by Sharia Laws? They’re a non-secular state. I’m not surprised at all. Why should we hold up Pakistan, which is a failing state — I don’t understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling a sense of self-worth from all the silly things that happen in Pakistan. Apologies to all my Pakistani friends right now… Rest assured, Pakistanis have way worse vocabulary than we do. I know.”
Her complete ignorance led to a lot of critique on social media. However, our very own UrwaHocane gave a shut-up call to Swara perfectly. Here is what she said:
Not only Urwa but Gohar Rasheed also schooled Swara in a series of his tweets. According to Gohar since Swara couldn’t outshine her co-actresses like Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor that is why she made such ignorant comments to get public’s attention. If this is the case, then it surely worked out for her as her Twitter and Instagram is flooded with hatred from Pakistani fans and she definitely got enough attention from the Pakistani media as well.
What is surprising is that Swara forgot her visit to Pakistan where she seemed to have forgotten the beauty of New York and Istanbul in-front of Lahore. People trolled the actress for her hypocrisy.
This incident has surely disappointed the Pakistani fans who were looking forward to watch the movie and all those who were vouching for it and were against its ban.
