Pakistan to Send Transgender Volunteers to Hajj for The First Time
In a historic move, Pakistan is going to send transgender people as volunteers part of the boy scouts team Khaddamul Hajjaj during Hajj in 2018. The IPC Sindh Boys Scouts Commissioner Atif Amin Husain had this to say, “Efforts for sending transgender youth to Saudi Arabia to serve as Khuddamul Hujjaj are underway.”
Pakistan Boy Scouts Association (PBSA) is a national scouting organization while also being one of the biggest volunteer forces in the world. They coordinated with Blue Veins, a transgender welfare organization for this initiative. They confirmed that they have recruited 40 transgender persons from Sindh, and will continue with the process in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan. The process involves physical training and tests after which the candidates await approval from Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony to be selected officially.
Qamar Naseem, who is the Programme Coordinator for Blue Veins said, “This can be a game changer and can significantly improve the social acceptance of transgender youth in our society.” That is true because this will help provide confidence to the transgender youth of Pakistan and allow them to feel accepted. This is the first step in many in trying to give recognition and respect to the transgender community of Pakistan which has been struggling for a long time. Hopefully the path to get them their rights will only get easier.Disclaimer:We do not allow users to post content which is copyright and We take strict actions against the users who post infringement content on our website.Although we do not host any content, users post embed videos from youtube, facebook, Dailymotion and Vimeo and are moderated before posting but we still take strict action against the copyright videos posted. If you are an official representative of any company whose videos are posted illegally on our website or you think some video infringe the copyright then you can simply send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
