No apology from Dominic Cummings as he denies breaching rules and refuses to resign – BBC News
At a news conference in Downing Street Mr Cummings said his usual childcare options were not available and his wife was ill.
Mr Cummings claimed that a car trip to a local beauty spot near Durham, with his wife and young son, was taken to check whether his eyesight was alright, before driving back to London.
Boris Johnson’s aide said he did not regret what he had done and had not considered whether he should offer his resignation. He rejected the idea that he had undermined the government’s instruction to the public to “Stay Home”.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed his support for Mr Cummings although he said he regretted the “confusion and anger” that many people felt.
