Chinese people all over the world celebrate their New Year Eve today on February 16th. The Chinese new year is different than what the world celebrates, because their depend upon the Lunar cycle. It usually falls between January 21st and February 20th. This is the year of the Dog, which means that their Zodiac that is based upon a twelve year cycle makes this year the year of the Dog zodiac.

Marriott Hotels in Karachi planned an event in their Chinese restaurant Suzie Wong to celebrate the Chinese New Year. They invited Chinese delegates and welcomed them warmly with the hospitality that is prevalent in Pakistanis. We were honored to have been invited to observe the festivities and, in conclusion, the event was fabulous. We met their Chinese chef and ate authentic Chinese food that was delicious.

Events like these not only help raise awareness about that fact that we need to learn about other cultures but also the fact that we are good friends with the Chinese and our relationship with the country is only beneficial. Learning about each other’s culture is important and we were happy to have celebrated this auspicious occasion with them thanks to Marriott Hotels.
