Mahira Khan’s Lungs Are Not Your Business
A recent video of Mahira Khan smoking while getting ready to appear in a show has gone viral. It is not the first time the Ho Mann Jahaan actress faced a lot of negative comments and criticism over both the incidents.

Pakistan is a country rife with toxic patriarchal values that undermine women’s rights and strengths. It has become a part of our culture to judge a woman over every aspect of her life as if she is a mere piece of property to be owned rather than a human being.
This recent incident is not about Mahira Khan or her smoking habits, it is about how negative our society and its mentality is when a woman is concerned. When a male celebrity can get away with almost everything, from smoking to dating, why is it that our patience is tested when it comes to females?
Mahira Khan and many other women in our country are regularly subjected to such behavior which highlights the serious problem in our society. We need to stop judging women so harshly and let them live their own lives. Nothing they do in their personal lives concerns us as long as it is not harming anyone.
Why are only men granted this liberty? Why can’t we grow and learn to be more progressive in our beliefs that are rooted in misogyny? Islam teaches us to consider women as equals, give them the rights to live their lives as they choose to, yet we tout the same religion as reasons for our toxic behavior.
Whether it is Mahira Khan or an average girl walking down the street, we need to learn to keep our noses out of their business and grant them the same freedom we so freely give to men. A woman is her own person and has the right to live her life by her rules. It is high time we learnt that and taught that to our future generations.Disclaimer:We do not allow users to post content which is copyright and We take strict actions against the users who post infringement content on our website.Although we do not host any content, users post embed videos from youtube, facebook, Dailymotion and Vimeo and are moderated before posting but we still take strict action against the copyright videos posted. If you are an official representative of any company whose videos are posted illegally on our website or you think some video infringe the copyright then you can simply send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
