Indian Michelin Star Chef Fired Over Anti-Islam Tweet
Michelin-starred chef Atul Kocchar has been fired for a tweet claiming Muslims have “terrorised” Hindus for thousands of years. The JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai dropped the chef after he posted the comments, aimed at Indian actress Priyanka Chopra.
Ms Chopra has come under fire for a recent episode of her US TV show Quantico, featuring a plot about Hindu nationalists. The chef has apologized for the tweet.
His tweet that has since been deleted stated: “It’s sad to see that you [Chopra] have not respected the sentiments of Hindus who have been terrorized by Islam over 2000 years. Shame on You.”
After he faced criticism and negative comments regarding such an ignorant tweet, he tweeted an apology:
There is no justification for my tweet, a major error made in the heat of the moment on Sunday. I fully recognise my inaccuracies that Islam was founded around 1,400 years ago and I sincerely apologise. I am not Islamophobic, I deeply regret my comments that have offended many.

The restaurant, however, fired the chef for his callous tweet and said: “We pride ourselves on creating a culture of diversity and inclusion for our guests and associates across the hotel and our restaurants.”
