Henry Cavill Says Goodbye to ‘Superman’?
Following reports of Ben Affleck’s departure from Batman series, the recent shook up at Warner Bros. is due to Henry Cavill’s exit from his Superman role. After talks of his cameo in the new Shazam! movie, which apparently fell through, it has been revealed that the actor is no longer attached to the DC Universe.
After putting on the red cape in 2013’s Man of Steel, Cavill went on to star in three more movies including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. It is unlikely that there will be another solo Superman movie for a few more years since Warner Bros. have shifted their focus to the new Supergirl movie in the works which will feature a teenager heroine and thus Superman’s Kal-El would be a baby in that timeline.
“We have a great relationship and great respect for Henry Cavill that continues to remain unchanged. Additionally we have made no current decisions regarding any upcoming Superman films,” a Warner Bros. representative said. However, other members of the DC Universe are still very much a part of it, with Gal Gadot returning in Wonder Woman 1984 in 2019, Jason Momoa in Aquaman in December and Ezra Miller in a stand-alone Flash movie slated to start shooting in 2019.
Henry Cavill also posted a video on his Instagram after the news broke, which seems to be his cryptic way of saying goodbye to the franchise that raised him to stardom.
