Happy Birthday to Pakistan’s Rockstar, Atif Aslam!

Born in Punjab, little Atif had now idea that he would grow up to such one of the biggest superstars of South Asia. Atif’s singing journey began during his college days when he would perform in public. The days of singing cover songs in restaurants and college events turned into performing country wide when he released his debut song “Aadat” in 2004. The song gained a lot of critical and public praise, and thus a Pakistani star was born.
Then came his first album in the same year titled “Jal Pari” which was again loved by everyone. Songs like “Jal Pari” and “Bheegi Yaadein” became nationwide hits. But that was only the beginning as ever since then his success and fame has only grown exponentially. Other than his burgeoning success in Pakistan, he also started getting noticed by Bollywood producers who wanted to include him on their movie soundtracks. His first breakthrough was in Mahesh Bhatt’s movie Zeher with the song “Woh Lamhe” that gained him a huge following in India.
Atif Aslam has become a superstar worldwide and has toured across the world in UK, USA, Dubai, Malaysia etc. He became the first Pakistani artist to perform at London’s O2 Arena in 2012 and has since performed there three times. He was also the first Asian man and second ever artist after Bryan Adams to have been allowed to perform at the Dashrath Rangasla National Football Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal. He has also had songs featured in soundtracks of Hollywood movies such as Man Push Cart and The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
He even made his acting in Pakistani film Bol in 2011. He has been a constant winner at the Lux Style Awards over the years. His rendition of “Tajdar-e-Haram”, that was originally sung by the Sabri Brothers, that he performed in Coke Studio 8 crossed a 100 million views on YouTube becoming the first Pakistani video to do so. His continued success not just in Pakistan but worldwide speaks volumes of how Pakistanis can dominate the world with their talent.
Happy Birthday to this icon who keeps amazing us with his skills and talent as well as inspiring every Pakistani to work for their dream and represent Pakistan at a global stage like he has done.
