Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2018 List Includes 9 Pakistanis

Forbes recently released their 30 under 30 Asia list which includes people that have driven change in the community or world in their respective categories. We are proud to see nine Pakistanis honored among other global artists and innovators. Here are the men and women included in the list:
1. Momina Mustehsan (Musician)
“Momina Mustehsan is one of Pakistan’s biggest music stars, and fast becoming one of her country’s most high profile activists. After singing a duet with famed singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khanthat that went viral, Mustehsan quickly earned an online following in the millions.Mustehsan used her newfound exposure to advocate for social causes important to her, including women’s rights, cyberbullying and mental health awareness. She was named one of BBC’S 100 Influential Women for 2017.”
2. Sadia Bashir (Founder, PixelArt Games Academy)
“Pakistani entrepreneur Sadia Bashir found she had a passion for video games, and while female education was not a priority at home, she fought for and funded her own education. After working for established gaming companies she cofounded Pixel Art Games Academy. The mission being to bridge the gap between industry demand and education by providing training in video game development and recruitment opportunities. Her success has inspired women in Pakistan to dream bigger. She has been awarded by “Women Can Do” and the U.S. Embassy at the Women Entrepreneurs Summit in 2016 for her accomplishments.”
3. Muhammad Shaheer Niazi (Scientist)
“Muhammad Shaheer Niazi is a 17-year-old student and scientist. At 16 he found a way to photograph the movement of ions that form the honeycomb shape made when electrically charged particles try to pass through a pool of oil. The resulting shape is also known to scientists as Rose window instability. His research was sparked by his participation in the International Young Physicist Tournament in Russia in 2016, as one of Pakistan’s first participants. Niazi went on to have his research published in the Royal Open Science Journal and has ambitions of winning Pakistan its first Nobel Prize in Physics.”
4. Hamza Farrukh (Founder, Bondh-E-Shams)
“Some 84% of Pakistan’s population do not have access to clean drinking water — but Hamza Farrukh has a solution. What began as a college project to bring fresh water to one rural Pakistani village funded by a $10,000 Davis Project for Peace grant, quickly grew into a mission to implement cost-effective, sustainable and maintenance-free clean water access for all rural Pakistanis. Farrukh began Bondh-E-Shams –also known as The Solar Water Project — and developed a solar-powered water extraction and filtration system. Costing $8,000, it has a lifespan of 25 years and can service around 5,000 people per day.”
5. Syed Faizan Hussain (Founder, Perihelion Systems)
“Syed Faizan Hussain is a solution-driven social activist based in Pakistan. He founded non-profit Perihelion Systems in 2013 to better the lives of many by using technology. Some of Perihelion’s products include; Edu-Aid, a sign language translating software; One Health, a disease surveillance and tracking system used to predict outbreaks and alert health institutions to expedite intervention; and Glove Gauge, wearable technology to facilitate professional production processes such as measurements.”
6. Adnan and Adeel Shaffi (Cofounders, PriceOye)
“Brothers Adnan and Adeel Shaffi are making online phone shopping easier. They founded PriceOye in 2015, an online price comparison engine for mobile phones in second and third tier cities in Pakistan. The platform uses data analytics to provide marketing information to retailers and at the same time finds the best deals across a variety of retailers for the consumer. They have more than a million views monthly.”
7. Muhammad Asad Raza and Abrahim Ali Shah (CTOs, Neurostic)
“Muhammad Asad Raza and Abrahim Ali Shah are the CEO and the CTO respectively, of Neurostic, a healthcare startup that uses technology to improve healthcare services and products for the developing world. Among their tech enhanced services are clinical decision support, fitness and healthcare monitoring and data analytics. They have also developed affordable prosthetic limbs for amputees in developing countries such as Pakistan. Raza won a gold award at Asia Pacific ICT Awards and third place at the international finals of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) in 2017.”
