First Ever Mechanical Heart Transplant Takes Place Successfully in Pakistan
NICVD (National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases) just performed Pakistan’s first ever mechanical heart transplant successfully on Monday. Nadeem Qamar, who is the Head at NICVD took the initiative to have the surgery performed as a historic point of progress for Pakistan’s medical industry.
Mansoor Ahmed, Pakistani Olympian who passed away due to heart problems, was to receive the first mechanical heart transplant but unfortunately could not. Instead, the 62 year old Nafeesa Begum received the transplant.
In a normal heart transplant, the heart is simply replaced with a new one but in a mechanical heart transplant, a device is inserted to fix the heart problem, which then pumps blood throughout the body.
Dr Pervez Chaudhry, along with his team of 8 experts, performed the surgery upon Nadeem Qamar’s request. The treatment can only be performed on a patient whose other organs are in working condition. Nafeesa Begum is recuperating at the moment and will be moved to the Intensive Care Unit soon.Disclaimer:We do not allow users to post content which is copyright and We take strict actions against the users who post infringement content on our website.Although we do not host any content, users post embed videos from youtube, facebook, Dailymotion and Vimeo and are moderated before posting but we still take strict action against the copyright videos posted. If you are an official representative of any company whose videos are posted illegally on our website or you think some video infringe the copyright then you can simply send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
