Facebook and Instagram Roll Out New Features to Let Us Know When We’ve Had Enough of Social Media
Facebook and Instagram will roll out features that show people how much time they’ve spent on the apps. The effort is part of an ongoing effort to be more responsible with its community rather than push for engagement, the company stated. But experts aren’t convinced that these features will make an actual difference.
According to recent studies, people who spend hours scrolling through their social media are prone to being more lonely than others and can face anxiety and depression. So Facebook has decided to roll out a few new features to help with our time management problem such as:
- An activity dashboard that shows how long you’re spending on Facebook or Instagram.
- A daily reminder for when you’re hitting your total time for the day.
- A way to tune out notifications.
You can access these features on either app through the settings option.
But some experts are not too sure that this could help with the budding problem. “It represents a meaningful start, but it’s not clear how effective the tool is going to be,” said Brian A. Primack, director of the center for research on media, technology and health at the University of Pittsburgh. Primack is one of the foremost academics who is studying the connection between social media and well-being.Disclaimer:We do not allow users to post content which is copyright and We take strict actions against the users who post infringement content on our website.Although we do not host any content, users post embed videos from youtube, facebook, Dailymotion and Vimeo and are moderated before posting but we still take strict action against the copyright videos posted. If you are an official representative of any company whose videos are posted illegally on our website or you think some video infringe the copyright then you can simply send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
