Kamila Shamsie i a 44-year-old who grew up in Karachi but is now living in London, working as an author. Her recent novel, Home Fire, is her seventh in a line of amazing novels. On 7th June, at Bedford Square Gardens in UK, she was awarded the 2018 Women’s Prize for Fiction by Sarah Sands who is a BBC Radio 4’s Today editor. She was gifted with £30,000 prize money and a statuette.

The story revolves around two Pakistani sisters living in abroad, one of whom falls in love with the son of a prominent political figure, and their brother who is drawn towards religious extremism.

According to Sands, “In the end, we chose the book which we felt spoke for our times. Home Fire is about identity, conflicting loyalties, love and politics. And it sustains mastery of its themes and its form. It is a remarkable book which we passionately recommend.”
