Boris Johnson accused of "treating public with contempt" after backing Dominic Cummings – BBC News
The Prime Minister said Mr Cummings had followed “the instincts of every father” and had acted “responsibly, legally and with integrity”.
His adviser drove more than 250 miles from his London home to his parents’ house in County Durham, along with his wife who had symptoms of coronavirus. There are also claims that the couple left the Durham address to visit local beauty spots.
The Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said that Boris Johnson should have sacked his aide and was “treating the British public with contempt”. Some Conservative MPs have also called for Mr Cummings to resign or be sacked.
