Atif Aslam Responds to Backlash on Performing Indian Song for Independence Day

Atif Aslam came under fire by Pakistanis after he performed his Indian song Tera Hone Laga Hoon from the soundtrack of the 2009 Bollywood movie Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani starring Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor.
After his performance at the Independence Day parade for Pakistanis in New York City, many people criticized the singer for singing Indian tracks but many of his fans defended and supported him. It seems like the controversy was too big to ignore as the singer himself addressed it on twitter by responding:
#Nevergiveup Simply love my haters Bayshak Allah izzat denay aur rakhnay wala hai Sabz jhanda meri pehchan (cont) https://t.co/ZD7kbQA6lO

The musician said, “I’m glad that my fans know how to deal with propaganda against me.” He also mentioned that he has hopes that ‘Naya Pakistan’ will allow for people to be more compassionate and tolerant towards people who work hard to make their country proud each day.
Shafqat Amanat Ali, another Pakistani singer who has previously been on a similar end before, tweeted in support of the Aadat singer stating, “Music is not Indian or Pakistani. It’s just music”.
