Apple Unveils New iPhones and Watch

As anticipation and excitement boiled over, Apple launched its latest new iPhones. The three new models are much larger, faster, and pricier. The unveiled iPhone XS, XS Max and XR wowed the audience at California where the event took place.
iPhone XS and XS Max have much larger screens than before. The XS has a 5.8 inch OLED display, stainless-steel frame, glass back, a bezel-free look, water resistance up to 2 meters of depth in the water for 30 minutes, 12MP dual-lens rear camera TrueDepth front-facing camera, and the starting price is $999. While the XS Max will be the most expensive handset Apple has sold to date starting from around $1,500. The phones also support dual-SIM option. Available in space grey, silver and gold colors.
“Even if the screen on the iPhone X last year was larger some people who were on the Plus models missed the feel of a larger device which is exactly what the Max is addressing,” said Carolina Milanesi, an analyst at the consultancy Creative Strategies.
The iPhone XR sports a bezel-free 6.1 inch LCD display which means the contrast will not be as sharp as the previous sets. Instead of a stainless-steel frame, it has an aluminum one. It also has a glass back, with water resistance of up to 1 meter depth only. The phone is also the larger and heavier of the three new models. Available in a wide range of colors like space red, yellow, white, coral, black and blue. It also has a 12MP single-lens camera, TrueDepth front-facing camera, and can go for up to 15 hours of internet or 16 hours of video. The starting price is around $749.
All the phones feature the new A12 Bionic processor which should aid energy efficiency and computation speeds as well as the new iOS 12 operating system. They also have a new feature that would allow users to alter the depth-of-field of their photos after they have been taken – effectively changing the degree to which the background is blurred. The company also unveiled their new smartwatch as well.
The Watch Series 4 has a 30% larger display than its predecessor. Fall detection, and the ability to conduct an ECG to measure heart health, are both major new features. Which means the timepiece will automatically warn its user if it detects their heart is beating abnormally fast or slow during everyday use. As well as if the associated software believes the user has suffered a hard fall and remained immobile for a minute or more, it will send the emergency services an alert including the user’s location, as well as contacting chosen friends or family if set to do so.
The 40mm version with cellular service is priced at $650 while the 42mm version is priced at around $689. Apple said the app that provides these functions had been given “De Novo” clearance by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), becoming the first such device to do so.
