There are many beautiful places in the world that get visitors and tourists from all over the world. But there are also some places in the world that are not so loved by tourists. These places are haunted and people hesitate when visiting them. In fact, only people who are fascinated by ghosts or supernatural things and want to explore places that have them will visit these places. So here is a list of the ten most haunted places of the world that you may want to visit but be careful because they are not for the weak of heart.
Myrtles Plantation, USA
The Myrtles Plantation is quite possibly the most haunted place in America. It was built on what was once a Native American burial ground and, as if that was not enough, ten murders have occurred in the house. People have reported seeing many ghosts in the house as well as seeing a figure crawling up the stairs, writhing in agony because of a gunshot wound.
The Tolbooth, Aberdeen, UK
During the revolution of 1700s, many Jacobite prisoners were kept as prisoners in this creepy place. Then it also became captivity for kidnapped children who were then sold into slavery. People have reported hearing sounds like chains rattling, and feeling as if they are being strangled by a rope.
Pluckley Village, Kent, UK
The Pluckley Village even once made it in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most haunted village of England because it was haunted by at least 15 ghosts. There is a ghost named “The Red Lady” that roams around the churchyard once it is dark as well as a man that was stabbed by a sword and got pinned to a tree.
Alcatraz, USA
Alcatraz is one of the most famous prisons of America that even once held the infamous mobster, Al Capone. Many tourists go there to visit during vacations and have reported seeing ghosts, hearing screams and cries of inmates as well as seeing a woman in the window of a cell.
Aradale Asylum, Ararat, Victoria, Australia
Opened in 1867, the massive Aradale Asylum of Australia has been rumored to have had 13000 people die there and not of natural causes. The people who have went there have reported hearing strange sounds and seeing apparitions.
Devils Pool, Babinda, Queensland, Australia
This natural pool looks normal but around 17 people have drowned and died in it. It is said that an Aboriginal cursed the place after she drowned herself for losing a loved one and now people seemingly fall or slip in the water not by themselves.
Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan, India
This small city was abandoned in 1783 and seems to have been haunted since. People think it is either a holy man that cursed the place or a wizard that faced unrequited love. The place is so haunted that it is said that whoever goes there at night will not come back. The Dancers’ Haveli and Jauhari Bazar are supposedly the most haunted spots there.
The Ancient Ram Inn, Wooten-Under-Edge, UK
The inn was built in the 1100s and it is believed that the site used to be a pagan burial ground where children were sacrificed. Visitors have been chased away by voices of crying children, apparitions and physical attacks from ghosts.
Lawang Sewu, Indonesia
During World War II, the Japanese took over the building and turned it into a prison where they executed many innocent people. People have reported seeing headless ghosts and a kuntilanak which is a vampiric ghost of the Malay folklore.
Mary Kings Close, Edinburgh, UK
When the plague hit Edinburgh, this place was highly affected because of it was always packed with people. In 18th century it was even sealed off to the public and that is when people started talking about how it was haunted. Visitors have mentioned how they have had physical interactions with ghosts as well as feeling the creepiest vibes there.
