Pak Vs West Indies 61 Bouncers in 129 Balls. Was It a Fix?
One of the most awaited sports event ICC cricket world cup has started and after the first match
between England and South Africa it was quite obvious that according to the
pitches this world cup will be one of the most highest scoring world cup ever
in the history of Cricket. Before the start of the Second match between
Pakistan and West Indies the head groundsman even stated that it’s a batsman
paradise and will be a high scoring which instead was a high scoring match if
it was a 5 overs match because Pakistan team was bundled up on 105 all out and
didn’t even complete the full quota of 50 Overs as well courtesy for the one
and only thing Bouncers !!
During Pakistan team batting West Indies bowlers bombarded Pakistani batsman with bouncers. During Pakistan Innings of about 21.3 Overs which will be around 129 balls of stay at the crease almost 61 balls 10.1 overs were short ball or bouncers. Andre Russel kept on bowling Short balls the whole over to Babar Azam and then to Haris Sohail as well. There were many occasions where Mohammad Hafeez was complaining or watching the leg umpire that they will give it a bouncer for 1 per over as per ICC rules or even there were some short balls or bouncers which went over the batsman’s head and meant to be a wide bowl and also 1 short ball warning for per over as a bowler but there was no reaction from the Official umpires. Where is ICC and their rules and regulations for the gentleman’s game? Was it a Human error or something else? Even if it was a human error wasn’t this error occurred for too long ? like in my point of view the error was for about 61 Deliveries which was quite a high ratio for a human error. Earlier between Pak vs Eng series Liam Plunket was seen doing a bit of nail thing with the ball which refers to ball tempering and according to many experts in english conditions there is no reverse swing when there are 2 balls are being used in an ODI but still there was nothing from ICC and it’s officials.
Indeed, there was many wrong shot selection from Pakistani Batsmen as well and it was a miserable performance at such a big event as ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. I hope ICC should consider these cases instead of just looking to empower cricketing boards for Spot Fixing or Match Fixing on Players ICC should also look into Umpires and Officials for the Spot Fixing or Match fixing things as well.
