Mark Zuckerberg to Testify in Front of Congress
The Senate Commerce and Judiciary committees will hold a joint hearing of the data scandal issue that has affected millions of Facebook users. CEO Mark Zuckerberg will testify and be sole witness in front of Congress to answer questions regarding the breach on Tuesday.
The chair of the committee Senator John Thune said, “Our joint hearing will be a public conversation with the CEO of this powerful and influential company about his vision for addressing problems that have generated significant concern about Facebook’s role in our democracy, bad actors using the platform, and user privacy.”
Zuckerberg will appear before the House Energy and Commerce Committee to testify at a hearing on Wednesday to answer for the breach that Cambridge Analytica bought users personal data and used it for President Trump’s election campaign.
The committee chairman Greg Walden and the top ranking Democrat on the committee Frank Pallone said in a statement, “This hearing will be an important opportunity to shed light on critical consumer data privacy issues and help all Americans better understand what happens to their personal information online.”
